Abbie Ferguson and Josephine Giard have collected the August 2024/25 Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month awards, supported by Park’s Motor Group.
Ferguson wins the award for the first time in her career after a strong start to the season with Hibernian. Grant Scott’s side went unbeaten in August as they finished the month top of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.
The winger scored once and provided three assists in August as she featured in all five matches. She was also unlucky not to score in Hibs’ 0-0 draw to Celtic when she was denied by both Kelsey Daugherty and Caitlin Hayes.
Josi Giard also wins the SWPL 2 award for the first time. The Hamilton Academical forward has been on fire in ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 with five goals and four assists.
After being relegated from the top-flight last season, Accies have shown they are looking to bounce back immediately. They were the only side in August with a 100% record in the league, scored the most goals, and conceded the fewest goals. Robert Watson will hope that Giard’s fine form continues for the remainder of the campaign.
The nominees for the August 2024 SWPL award were Olufolasade ‘Sade’ Adamolekun (Heart of Midlothian), Lucy Ashworth-Clifford (Celtic), and Katie Wilkinson (Rangers) and for the SWPL 2 award were Lauren Coleman (Rossvale) and Lauren Evans (Livingston).
