Remi Allen’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a point for Reading away to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Friday night.

The Royals had taken the lead when Fara Williams’s corner curled straight into the net on 15 minutes but shortly afterwards Aileen Whelan headed home from Kayleigh Green’s cross to level the scores.

Before the break Brighton had turned the game round, Lea le Garrec playing in Ini Umotong, who evaded a challenge and scored past Grace Moloney.

Brooke Chaplen struck the bar for Reading in the second half but Allen bundled home a 94th-minute leveller.

The result moved Reading within a point of fifth-placed Manchester United and put Brighton just a goal short of West Ham in eighth.
