Arsenal moved back to within two points of FAWSL leaders Manchester City with two games in hand, after a comfortable win over Bristol City in which Vivianne Miedema hit another hat-trick.
Danielle van de Donk headed against the post and could not net the rebound but soon after in the 11th minute, Vivianne Miedema got through a crowd to find the bottom corner.
Miedema’s through ball allowed Van de Donk a shot on goal but her effort was cleared off the line.
Pauline Peyraud-Magnin produced a fine save to deny Abi Harrison early in the second half and before the hour mark the lead was doubled, with Miedema’s second goal coming via a Dominique Bloodworth ball.
Katie McCabe beat the offside trap and made quite sure of the points with the third Gunners’ goal on 76 minutes and her finish was soon followed by a hat-trick goal for Miedema, with Van de Donk again the provider.
There was more to cheer on the night for Arsenal fans, as Miedema was replaced 5 minutes from time with the return from injury of Danielle Carter, who nearly celebrated with a goal of her own but hit the woodwork from 25 yards.
