FAWNL: Nearly 5,000 see Norwich City Women draw with Cambridge United

A crowd of almost 5,000 at Carrow Road saw Norwich City draw with Cambridge United in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East.

NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Huddersfield Town 1-5 Burnley
Liverpool Feds 2-1 West Bromwich Albion (Att: 75)
Newcastle United 3-1 Stoke City (Att: 1,567)
Nottingham Forest 3-1 AFC Fylde (Att: 657)
Stourbridge 1-7 Derby County

Five-goal Burnley stayed top, Nottingham Forest saw off Fylde to go second and Liverpool Feds rose to third with a Bethany Donoghue double against West Brom. Over 1,500 watched Newcastle United defeat Stoke City, Derby County got off the mark in style with seven goals on their travels, despite Stourbridge leading at the midway point.

Rugby Borough and Hashtag United each extended winning starts to fourth games, Angelina Nixon with decider at Cardiff, Georgia Griffin with the only goal of the game against Portsmouth. Ellie Sara’s hat-trick was completed from the spot in stoppage-time to defeat Cheltenham. Natasha Thomas made an 89th-mniute breakthrough for Ipswich at MK Dons, Oxford United got all their four goals against Chatham in the first half. Alex Hennessy and Maddie Briggs both bagged a brace as Billericay hit six at London Bees.

Lincoln City and Leek Town went level on points with leaders Loughborough Lightning, while there were first wins of the campaign for Notts County and Solihull Moors.

Middlesbrough won at Leeds with an Ellen Packham effort, Stockport wiped out a two-goal deficit to draw with Doncaster, York City first points came at the fourth attempt and with five goals. The match at Chester le Street was abandoned at half-time due to the weather.

Cambridge United led Norwich City at Carrow Road with an Isabella Simmons goal, Megan Todd replied from the spot to earn a point for the Canaries. Actonians were the first to take points of leaders Ashford Town, London Seward leapfrogged Worthing with an away win, a youthful Chesham side won the goalfest with Cambridge City.
