Enfield Town went up three places to third in the FA Women’s National League South East Division 1 with a 2-0 win over bottom of the table Luton Town, watched by a crowd of 326.
The Hatters’ Jess McKay had a powerful drive from 18 yards well stopped from before Sasha Kelly opened the scoring on 21 minutes, with a shot past goalkeeper Angelika Kopec into the top corner.
Ten minutes later and the lead was doubled, Nuala McKevitt returning a poor defensive clearance into the net from 30 yards.
Luton looked to get back into the game after the break but when Rachel Kosky and McKay combined, Enfield cleared off their own goal-line.
Dionne Manning later looped the ball just over the visitors’ bar from 20 yards and McKay blazed a chance too high as Enfield held their two-goal advantage.
Midlands Division 1 action on Thursday sees Solihull Moors try to get off the mark at home to third-placed Bedworth United at West Midland Sports & Social Club.
