Burnley and Watford are the only sides in the FA Women’s National League top tier with two wins from two games but Cardiff City LFC began with a 7-0 away victory.

Burnley continue winning start

Burnley beat Huddersfield Town 2-1 in the Northern Premier, while Sunderland suffered a second defeat 2-1 at Hull City.

Charlotte Steggles and Rosie Axten scored to give Nottingham Forest a 2-0 victory over east midlands rivals Derby County, watched by a crowd in excess of 400.

West Brom ran out 5-0 winners at Sheffield FC, Fylde sent Middlesbrough to a 3-0 defeat, while Laura Steele’s 83rd-minute goal meant a 2-2 home draw against Stoke City for Loughborough Foxes.

Seven up for Cardiff City Ladies

Watford lead the table after coming from behind to win over Oxford United in front of almost 200, Sarah Wiltshire and Helen Ward with their goals. Cardiff City Ladies made a flying start with all seven goals in the game at Plymouth, three of those from Kylie Nolan.

MK Dons pulled off a fine win at Crawley Wasps, Yeovil United also won by a single goal at Chichester & Selsey, Hounslow going down 4-0 at home to Gillingham.

Division 1 Round-Up

Norton and Chester le Street sit first and second respectively in Division 1 North after finishing all square at 2-2. Barnsley bounced back from an opening day defeat to thrash Bolton 7-2, Stockport County beat Brighouse Town to make a winning start.

Wolves made it 13 goals in two games to stay top in Division 1 Midlands as Solihull suffered an 8-1 walloping, Wanderers’ local rivals Sporting Khalsa also notched a second victory, 3-0 at Burton.

AFC Wimbledon, Actonians and Ipswich Town are all on six points from two games at the top end of Division 1 North, the latter with an excellent 3-0 result at Billericay Town.

Southampton FC are on maximum points after two matches in Division 1 South West, beating Buckland Athletic 5-1 with the help of an Ella Pusey hat-trick. Exeter City are second following a 4-2 opening game success over Poole Town.
