Hashtag United and Barnsley WFC top FA Women’s National League tables

Hashtag United and Barnsley WFC both went top of their respective FA Women’s National League tables for Christmas.

NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Derby County 0-1 West Bromwich Albion (Att: 225)
Newcastle United 11-3 AFC Fylde (Att: 965)
Stourbridge 3-2 Huddersfield Town (Att: 136)

Newcastle United thrashed Fylde with hat-tricks by Bridget Galloway and Jasmine McQuade, to move five points clear of Burnley at the top of the table over Christmas. Stourbridge and West Brom moved up to eighth and ninth place respectively, Simran Jhamat got the only goal of the game for the Baggies.

SOUTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Hashtag United 1-0 Rugby Borough (Att: 88)
Oxford United 8-0 Billericay Town (Att: 280)
Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Cardiff City LFC (Att: 202)

Hashtag United edged Rugby Borough with an Emma Samways goal to replace Portsmouth in pole position. Oxford United were only three points ahead of Billericay before putting eight past them. Cardiff City Ladies’ win at ninth-placed Plymouth lifted them above Argyle on goal-difference, Grace Horrell-Thomas with both their goals.

DIVISION 1 MIDLANDS

Leafield Athletic 0-4 Northampton Town (Att: 72)
Sheffield FC 0-3 Sutton Coldfield Town (Att: 45)

Boldmere St Michaels ended Loughborough Lightning’s unbeaten record and went level on points with second-placed Peterborough United. Northampton Town are up to fourth after victory at Leafield Athletic, mid-table Sutton Coldfield won at Sheffield FC.

DIVISION 1 NORTH

Six-goal Barnsley WFC took the leadership back from Hull City aided by Emily Pierrepont’s hat-trick, Chorley held third-placed Middlesbrough.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH EAST

Cambridge City 2-2 London Seaward
Cambridge United 1-2 Worthing (Att: 74)
Haywards Heath Town P-P Actonians
Norwich City 4-1 Chesham United (Att: 342)

Norwich City’s victory lifted them level on points within leaders AFC Wimbledon, Worthing went third when coming from behind to win with a Samantha Quayle effort. Cambridge City were close to climbing out of the drop zone, until London Seaward grabbed a late equaliser.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH WEST

Abingdon United 0-3 Exeter City
Maidenhead United 0-4 Moneyfields (Att: 65)
Selsey 0-4 Portishead Town

Exeter City joined leaders AFC Bournemouth on nine wins from as many games. Moneyfields and Portishead both also won away, the latter getting out of the relegation zone at the expense of Torquay United.

Birmingham City go top of Barclays Women’s Championship on goal-difference
