Everton Women have activated the option to extend goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan’s contract until the end of 2024.

The Toffees moved to add a further 12 months to the Republic of Ireland international’s existing deal, which expires at the end of this month.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a memorable 2022/23 campaign, making 16 appearances in all competitions, including the 3-0 Merseyside derby win at Anfield in September.

Brosnan went on to help the Republic of Ireland qualify for their first-ever Women’s World Cup finals, where they will compete in Australia and New Zealand this summer, before being named as her nation’s player of the season last week.

On her extended Everton deal, Brosnan said: “I’m really excited and happy to have extended my time at Everton. Last season was excellent, with a great group of girls and seeing the progress we made. I’m excited to be back next season and hopefully continue on that path and keep on improving.

“Everton is a fantastic club, with great ambition so it’s good to be a part of. It’s really exciting to be able to come in every day and see the progress we have made and push together towards our goals. It’s something I love being a part of and I’m looking forward to next season to continue on that path.”
