England Women’s U-19s lost 3-2 to France in the La Nucia Tournament, despite twice taking the lead at Camilo Cano Sports City in Alicante.

The Young Lionesses twice led through Michelle Agyemang, her first after 18 minutes from a Vivienne Lia cross.

Charline Coutel levelled just four minutes later, via the crossbar from 20 yards, but Agyemang’s second came with a lob from distance.

France equalised again early in the second half, Hannah Poulter’s attempted clearance was charged down and Lucie Calba tapped home.

Poulter later tipped Wassa Sangare’s header onto the bar, with the loose ball bundled over the line, as England fell behind for the first time.

England WU19s second tournament match is against Norway on Tuesday 27 February, kick off 1pm GMT at Meliá Villaitana Hotel.
