Derby County have signed former Birmingham City youngster Karagh Tait for the 2017/18 season, becoming the Rams’ second signing of the summer.
Having spent time in the Development side at Birmingham City, Derby say that Tait has now opted to further develop her game with the Rams and she has high hopes of making an immediate impact.
Tait told derbycountyladies.co.uk: “It was a tough decision to make the move to Derby County but I felt that I would get more opportunities to play with the club than I would have at Birmingham.
“Birmingham City have been great for me and I could have stayed and carried on learning with the club and hopefully I’d of got my chance to break through with the team. But they are a team full of internationals and just feel that I need to get some playing experience and I like the style of play the club has adopted and feel I can learn from the manager and the coaching staff.”
Before joining Birmingham City, Tait spent a number of years with the Derby County Regional Talent Centre and Manager John Bennett has watched her progress from there and feels she can have a positive impact at the club.
Bennett said “Whilst Karagh is still young, I have no doubt that she will join the group and settle in quickly. She is eager to learn and I think she could be a key player for us over the coming seasons.
“We have a certain style of play at Derby and coming from Birmingham, we have no doubt that she will have been coached extremely well and we want to add to that and enable her to continue her improvement. She has the ability and tools to go all the way and if we can help nurture that and help us achieve our goals, it will be a very positive experience for all parties.”
The Rams have their first pre-season friendly this Sunday, 16th July, when they host WSL 2 side Sheffield FC at Derby University, 2pm kick off.
