Glentoran replaced Linfield as Danske Bank NIFL Women’s Premiership leaders with a 7-0 sinking of Derry City and a goalkeeper raced back from the World Cup to play for Sion Swifts.
There were six different scorers for the Glens in the rout – Rachel Rogan, Kerry Beattie, Nadene Caldwell, Demi Vance and Shannon Grattan were all on target, while Joely Andrews netted a double.
Sion Swifts moved to within two points of Linfield with all four goals of the game at Crusaders Strikers.
Lauren Brennan netted twice for the League Cup finalists while Catherine Hyndman and Zoe McGlynn were also on target to continue Tony McGinley’s side strong run of form.
Sion Swifts welcomed back goalkeeper Nicole McClure – less than 24 hours after competing at the World Cup – for the clash.
There was also a 4-0 scoreline for Cliftonville at basement side Comber Rec.
Niamh Connolly’s strike was the difference at the break before Leontia McVarnock doubled the advantage, while Marissa Callaghan’s double ensured the Reds stay in fourth.
