Four first-half goals saw Glentoran beat Cliftonville 4-0 to go top of the NIFL Danske Bank Women’s Premiership in midweek.

Danielle Maxwell opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a curling effort into the top corner, Joely Andrews doubling the lead four minutes later with a well-placed shot after the hosts worked a short corner routine.

Kerry Beattie made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark from Caragh Hamilton’s cross, returning the compliment before the break to seal the points.

Glentoran moved three points clear of Sion Swifts at the top of the table but having played one game more.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership will be classified as elite and therefore continue as scheduled during Northern Ireland’s latest Covid-19 restrictions.
