Former USA Women’s National Team veteran, Cindy Parlow Cone, is US Soccer interim president following the resignation of Carlos Cordeiro.

Cordeiro had taken responsibility for the content of court papers submitted in an equal pay case, which said the US women’s team were “less skilled” and “had fewer responsibilities than their male colleagues.”

He said in a statement that he had not had the opportunity to read the submission in its entirety and that “The arguments and language contained in this week’s legal filing caused great offence and pain, especially to our extraordinary women’s national team players who deserve better.”

Parlow Cone, who played 158 times for the US, winning the World Cup and two Olympic gold medals, steps up from her role as vice-president and takes charge until February 2021.
