Chesterfield Ladies and Handsworth go top, Hutton in four-goal fightback

Chesterfield Ladies and Handsworth were two changes at the top of Regional League tables, while Hutton won a Cup tie despite having been 4-1 down.

EASTERN – Hutton make Plate semis overcoming 4-1 deficit

Premier – Luton Town’s Shanice Lewis scored both goals in their win at Bowers & Pitsea, as they cut Royston Town’s lead to ten points with four games in hand. Stevenage are up to third after edging St Albans City 2-1 with Anaise Corrigan’s decider, Wroxham were 4-0 winners over Watford Ladies Development, Cambridge City beat Needham Market 3-0 in the basement battle as Faith Harrison hit a hat-trick.

1 North – Newmarket Town went second with a 1-0 win over Mulbarton Wanderers, Histon up to third after a narrow 2-1 result against bottom-of-the-table Kings Lynn Town. Biggleswade United v Real Bedford Reserves was abandoned due to a serious injury.

1 South – Southend United went five points clear at the top with a 2-1 result over Wormley Rovers. Lawford are three points off the bottom following a good 2-1 result at home to Hertford Town, Sophia Knight getting a late winner. Frontiers moved further from danger with all three goals at Stanway Pegasus.

League Plate Quarter-Final – Hutton had been 4-1 down but stormed back to win a nine-goal thriller at Wootton Blue Cross, Daisy Canny’s treble helping them to a 5-4 victory.

EAST MIDLANDS – Chesterfield Ladies edge into pole position

Premier – Chesterfield Ladies beat Anstey Nomads 3-0 to take over at the top from Sheffield FC by virtue of goals scored – but having played a game more. Stamford are third after a 4-1 win at Basford United, where Emma Pollard netted a treble.

1 Central – Top team Loughborough Foxes Vixens scored two very late goals in a 3-0 win at Beaumont Park, River City went one better at West Bridgford and a Long Eaton United goal at Brookside Athletic completed a blank day in front of goal for the home sides.

1 North – Gainsborough Trinity took a step nearer the title with an 11-1 victory at Belper Town, Grace Jones with four goals and Katy Thornley getting three. Grimsby Borough won 2-1 at Buxton, Chesterfield FC substitute Tia McDonagh scored in a 1-1 draw with Notts County Development, Arnold Eagles and Sherwood also finished one apiece.

1 South – Wellingborough Town came from behind to win 2-1 at Northampton Town Devs with a quick brace from Holly Moore and Lauren Adams. They lead the table by eight points, with New Bradwell St Peter rescuing a draw as sub Ruby Anderson netted on 90 minutes in a 1-1 result with Thrapston Town. Newport Pagnell Town won 4-1 at Cardea, Dunton & Broughton United’s Emma Aspinall got a double in a 2-2 draw with Bugbrooke St.Michael.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Fulham goalless against leaders

Premier – Fulham drew 0-0 with leaders Dartford in front of 177 fans, Dorking reduced their advantage to four points when winning 3-2 at Sutton United. Saltdean United remain very well positioned in the title race but only beat basement side Haywards Heath Town with a goal from substitute Charley Boswell. Barking’s Laura Bunton scored three times in a 5-2 result at Ashford United that put them fourth, Newhaven sank Sport London E Benfica 6-1.

1 North – Bromley beat Clapton CFC 2-0 in front of a crowd of 215, Brentford remain in a strong position after a 3-0 victory at Ashmount Leigh. Denham United just got the better of Actonians Reserves five goals to four, Richmond & Kew won 2-1 at Hackney, Dulwich Hamlet Reserves scored all seven goals at Richmond Park.

1 South – Welling United recovered a two-goal deficit with Amelia Bate’s brace to draw 2-2 with second-placed Bognor Regis Town. Aylesford sub Kara Richardson struck in a 2-1 away win at Montpelier Villa, Three Bridges are off the bottom at the expense of Hastings United following a 3-1 defeat of Soccer Elite Football Academy in which Sarah Chapman grabbed a hat-trick.

League Cup Quarter-Final – Millwall Lionesses scored seven goals but had been taken to extra time by three-goal Leatherhead.

NORTH EAST – High-scoring Handsworth hit the heights

Premier – South Shields lost out to two second-half goals from leaders Ponteland United, Chester le Street Town won 1-0 at Alnwick Town with a Jenny Ashton goal, Bradford City also keeping up the chase with Mia Jacobs netting four of their seven goals at Hull United. Spennymoor Town were 4-0 winners over Wallsend BC, Harrogate Town took the points 4-2 at Sunderland West End.

1 North – Relegation-threatened Redcar Town recorded a fine 1-1 draw at leaders Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, Bishop Auckland were beaten 2-0 by third-placed i2i International Soccer Academy. Chester le Street Amazons lost the derby with Chester le Street United to a late brace from visitors’ substitute Bethany Enguita, while Consett won 4-0 Gateshead.

1 South – Handsworth hit top spot as they overtook both Ossett United and Leeds Modernians on goal-difference, Abby Watkinson accounting for six of their 15 goals against Sheffield United Foundation. York City Development won at Lower Hopton with four second-half goals.

NORTH WEST – Seasiders’ heads above water after derby win

Premier – Bury drew 3-3 at second-placed Darwen, FC United of Manchester beat Crewe Alexandra 2-0 to move off the foot of the division. Mancunian Unity drew 1-1 at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton, repeating Thursday’s scoreline at Fleetwood Town Wrens where there was a 150-strong turn-out.

1 North – Accrington Stanley hurt Penrith’s title hopes by beating them 3-1 away, Atherton Laburnum Rovers defeated Haslingden by a similar score. Blackpool climbed out of the bottom two with a 4-1 derby defeat of Preston North End, featuring an Ally Haase hat-trick.  Workington Town won 5-0 at Hindley, Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves v Morecambe was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

1 South – Poulton Vics won 2-0 over Warrington Town, moving eight points clear at the top as FC St. Helens went down 5-1 at Mossley Hill Athletic. After being pegged back by Ellesmere Port Town, visitors Chester struck three times in under 10 minutes for a 4-1 result. Wirral Phoenix won 3-1 against MSB Woolton aided by a Rebecca Tebb double, Macclesfield FC 2-1 winners over Litherland REMYCA.

SOUTHERN – League Cup semi-finalists confirmed

Premier – Badshot Lea moved off the bottom with just their third point of the campaign, sharing six goals with third-placed Oxford City whose sub Billie Bough-French was among the scorers while Gemma Luke got a 90th-minute goal for the hosts.

1 North – Milton United got all five goals of the game at Caversham United, Slough Town and Chesham United Development played out a goalless draw.

1 South – AFC Stoneham opened up a five-point lead with a 4-0 victory at AFC Varsity, Bursledon matched that result away to Wimborne Town.

League Cup Quarter-Finals – AFC Portchester eliminated Wycombe Wanderers 3-1, Sholing sank Fleet Town 4-0 helped by a first-half Siena Millen treble, Winchester City Flyers banged five past Beaconsfield Town, Ascot United’s half-dozen against Havant & Waterlooville included a Leah Littlechild hat-trick.

SOUTH WEST – Head injury halts match

Premier – Top side Marine Academy Plymouth got three points with as many goals at Poole Town, Forest Green Rovers are second following a 3-2 win at Frampton Rangers where Erin Williams notched a ten-minute double.

1 North – Gloucester City have 14 wins in a row and are top by 13 points, after Kamissa Stichter’s breakthrough at Cirencester Town. Royal Wootton Bassett Town went third with a single-goal success over Corsham Town, SGS Olveston United scored early on but lost 5-1 to Stockwood Wanderers, Bath City putting away five without reply at St Vallier.

1 South – Saltash United increased a 3-1 interval lead over Bideford to a 10-2 result, Weston super Mare won 4-2 at Honiton. Feniton were one up but a player down after a red card, their match with Weymouth being abandoned after 32 minutes.


WEST MIDLANDS – Burton draw after two equalisers and red card

Premier – Lye Town stayed top by four points with a 5-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers keeping them in their sights with a 2-0 win against Solihull Sporting. Steph Kingston got a couple as Burton Albion drew 2-2 with Leek Town, whose Katie Maya netted on 87 minutes but other scorer Lily Fallon was later sent off. Coventry Sphinx saw off Alvechurch 2-1 with a pair for Poppy Johnston-Smith, Port Vale picked up three points 4-1 at Knowle.

1 North – Lichfield City won 3-2 at Walsall Wood as sub Holly Parkes struck a late decider, putting them five points clear but from five games more than closest title rivals Hednesford Town. AFC Telford United drew 1-1 with Walsall FC, Rugby Town beat Newcastle Town 4-1.

1 South – Worcester City Reserves missed a chance to go top when held 2-2 at Bromsgrove Sporting, Redditch United’s 5-3 result at Hereford Pegasus was helped by two goals from Humera Ashfaq.

Division 1 Cup 2nd Round – Droitwich Spa went through with three first-half goals at Leek Town Reserves.
