Chelsea Women through to Champions League quarter-finals

Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-1 to reach the last eight of the UEFA Women’s Champions League with a game to spare.

Group C: Roma 2-2 Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Ajax
Group D: Chelsea 2-1 Real Madrid, BK Hacken 0-0 Paris FC

Emma Hayes side clinched the group to follow Barcelona and Lyon into the quarter-finals, Guro Reiten’s 62nd-minute penaltywas cancelled out by Athenea but a deflected Erin Cuthbert effort was fumbled over the line by goalkeeper Mylène Chavas.

BK Hacken missed a chance to progress when held to a goalless home draw by Paris FC, whose Chiamaka Nnadozie saved a Rosa Kafaji penalty.

Paris Saint-Germain knocked Ajax off the top of the Group C table, Marie-Antoinette Katoto bagging a brace including an overhead kick. Romée Leuchter replied but Grace Geyoro completed the scoring at 3-1 by half-time.

All teams in the group can still go through, following Roma’s 2-2 tie with visitors Bayern Munich. Roma lead through Valentina Giacinti but there was very late drama as Lea Schüller twice headed Bayern level, the second time after Manuela Giugliano restored Roma’s advanatge in stoppage-time.
