Chelsea have signed 24-year-old Colombian international forward Mayra Ramirez from Spanish top-flight side Levante.

The 5′ 10” striker put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal, following her 18-month spell with Levante. She played 95 times in La Liga, including for Sporting de Huelva, scoring 32 goals.

She has 30 caps for her country and helped Colombia reach the quarter-finals of last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ramirez told chelseafc.com: ‘I am very honoured to be a part of Chelsea. To be part of such a huge club is a dream come true and one I’ve had since I was a little girl.’

General manager Paul Green added: ‘Mayra is a dynamic forward who can play anywhere across the front line. We have watched her develop in Spain over the last few years and believe her style is going to suit playing in England.

‘She has great physicality, athleticism, and a good goalscoring record. We’re all excited with what she can bring to the squad now and in the long term.’
