Canada international Carly Wickenheiser has signed for North Carolina Courage, moving from BK Häcken.
The midfielder has signed a contract that will keep her at the club through the 2027 NWSL season.
“I’m super excited to be joining the NC Courage and to take the next step in my career. I am looking forward to joining this environment and to continue growing as a person and player,” said Wickenheiser.

We followed her throughout last season as she played a pivotal role at the heart of Hacken’s midfield in their title-winning season, and we are excited that she will take the next step of her career with us in Courage Country,” said Courage’s chief soccer officer Ceri Bowley.
Carly Wickenheiser: her football career so far
Wickenheiser made her senior debut for Canada in the 2025 Pinatar Cup, earning three caps as Canada won the gold medal.
Up until now, she has spent the entire seven years of her professional career in Sweden, most recently winning the Damallsvenskan title in 2025 with Häcken – where she played under newly-appointed Courage head coach Mak Lind.
Following a standout collegiate career at Texas Tech, Wickenheiser signed for Morön BK in the Swedish second division.
She then moved to the top tier in 2021, featuring for KIF Örebro DFF and Kristianstads DFF.
About the North Carolina Courage
North Carolina Courage finished ninth in the NWSL last season. They missed out on a play-off spot by a single point, with Gotham FC pipping them to the eighth place.
Head coach Sean Nahas left the club in August last year, with Nathan Thackeray finishing the season as acting head coach.
Mak Lind was appointed as head coach earlier this month.
