Bristol City sign Chloe O’Connor from Welsh Premier Women’s League runners-up Cardiff Met, with whom the midfielder scored 15 goals last season.
The 26-year-old O’Connor began her career at Swansea City aged 15 and had been in her second spell with Cardiff Met, with whom she won multiple WPWL titles and Welsh Cups. She has played for both the Swans and the Archers in the Champions League.
A benign tumour was discovered on her spine during a spell playing for Cardiff City but she was back playing for the Archers in the summer of 2020 after a year’s rehabilitation.
O’Connor told bcfc.co.uk: “Bristol City Women is a club steeped in history in the women’s game and I’m excited for the next challenge in my career.
“The Championship is a competitive league with some quality teams and players, which I’m excited to test myself against.”
Head Coach Lauren Smith commented: “Throughout her young career Chloe has shown that she is a fighter, she has faced adversity and battled through to return to the pitch and show what she is capable of.
“She was a real driving force behind Cardiff Met’s performances last season with her creativity and ability on the ball, which really excites me as a coach.”
