Bristol City Women have signed former Norway U-19 goalkeeper Benedicte Haaland, following the expiration of the 22-year-old’s deal with Swiss side Lugano.

“I’m really excited for a new challenge in my career and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Bristol City Women,” Haaland told bcfc.co.uk.

“The game is growing massively here in England and I’m excited to get to work with my new teammates.

“Sophie [Baggaley] is a top goalkeeper and I’m looking forward to us working together and pushing each other to get better in training.”

“It’s fantastic to welcome Benedicte to Bristol City ahead of the new season,” said head coach Tanya Oxtoby.

“She’s a young and exciting goalkeeper, who has represented Norway at youth level and I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops throughout the season whilst working with our new Head of Goalkeeping, Dan Smith.”
