Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Australian international goalkeeper Lydia Williams from Paris St Germain on a contract until summer 2024.

The 34-year-old has won four A-League titles with Melbourne City and Canberra United, finished second in the WSL table with Arsenal in the 2021/22 season and was a runner-up in the Trophee des Championnes Feminin with PSG earlier this season.

At international level, she has competed in two World Cups and three Asian Cups, winning her 100th cap for the Matildas last June.

Head coach Jen Scheuer said: “Lydia brings a huge amount of experience to the team. She has played over 100 times for Australia and has a good understanding of the WSL from her time with Arsenal. Hopefully, we will see some of her wonderful saves!

“Now we have three good goalkeepers the competition will be a lot stronger and that’s good for the team. I am sure Lydia will have a big impact.”
