Brazil and Colombia top FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup groups

Brazil and hosts Colombia finished their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup groups with 100% records with wins over Canada and Mexico respectively.

Group A: Mexico 0-1 Colombia Australia 0-2 Cameroon

Group B: Fiji 0-11 France, Canada 0-2 Brazil

Mary Espitaleta got the only goal as Colombia finished five points clear of Mexico and Cameroon.

Cameroon’s Achta Njoya broke the deadlock in first-half added time against Australia, Naomi Eto sealing the points after the break, as the young Matildas ended without a point.

Brazil also topped their table by a five-point margin over France and Canada, Natalia giving them a first-half lead against the latter and Firmino doubling it deep into second-half stoppage time.

Liana Joseph led the way for France with a four-goal haul as Fiji suffered an 11-0 defeat, conceding a total of 29 goals in their three games.

The top two of each group go through to the knockout stage, along with the four best third-placed teams.

Group C: Morocco v Spain (9pm), USA v Paraguay (9pm)
Group D: South Korea v Germany (12pm), Venezuela v Nigeria (12pm)
