Blackburn Rovers have made the first addition to their squad for their debut season in the FA Women’s Championship, with Rhema Lord-Mears joining from Belgian Super League side Anderlecht.

Forward Lord-Mears (23) came through the ranks at Manchester City (whom Rovers visit in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday), before moving to Sheffield FC and gaining experience in the second tier.

Rovers manager Gemma Donnelly told the club’s website of her first signing: “She’s been abroad for the last year playing in Belgium. Now she’s come back and really impressed over pre-season.

“She’s got such quick feet, she’s left-footed and she adds something different in that she’s tenacious and an attack-minded forward player.”
