Birmingham City Women have signed Eleanor Ryan-Doyle and Emily Whelan, formerly of Peamount United and Shelbourne respectively.
Whelan is a 19-year-old attacker, versatile enough to also take on midfield or defensive roles, with senior international experience going back to when she was just sixteen.
Whelan told bcfc.com: : “I am really excited for the upcoming season and I will do my best to help the team. I will do everything I can to help us get to where we want to be.
“It’s a big step up but I am willing to work hard and give it everything I’ve got.”
Ryan-Doyle led the SSE Airtricity Women’s National League scoring charts for the current campaign before her departure and has helped Peamount pick up consecutive WNL titles.
Ryan-Doyle told bcfc.com: “I am excited to start my professional career at Blues and excited to see where it will take me and how I will progress with my football.
“Scott [Booth] has told me about his plans for the season and what the team’s ambitions are, which is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
Chelsea youngster also joins Blues
The Blues also recently added Arabella Suttie from Chelsea on an agreement until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old said:“I can’t wait! It will be really good to play for Blues and get some exposure in the WSL.
“The Head Coach [Scott Booth] said he was impressed with me and how I have gelled into the team, but also that he knows what I need to work on and how I can improve.”
