Birmingham City have announced the signing of American defender Michaela Kovacs.
The accomplished defender has played all across Europe in her career so far, but her move to the Championship brings her to England for the first time.
Kovacs kicked off her professional career in Portugal, before moving to Sweden and Norway in the past two years.
The 28-year-old brings valuable experience to Birmingham City. Kovacs featured for Valerenga in the Champions League and could prove very useful for Birmingham in their title race.

At the midway point in the season Birmingham currently sit second in WSL2. There is a five point gap between the Midlands side and Charlton in first, but with three teams given the chance of going up this season they are in a prime spot to challenge for promotion.
Birmingham continue their promotion charge in just over a week’s time and Kovacs could make her Championship debut against relegation candidates Portsmouth.
Speaking to the club’s official website after her arrival in Birmingham, Kovacs said: “I’m very excited to get started. It’s been a really warm welcome from the minute I got off the plane to meeting everyone here. It’s been fantastic so far.
“The ambition here is clear, and I want to be part of pushing Birmingham City back to where it belongs.”
The arrival of Kovacs came just hours after it was announced that Manchester United would recall Lucy Newell from her loan with Birmingham City.
