Laura Berry and Cara Borthwick have collected the September 2024/25 Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month awards, supported by Park’s Motor Group.
Berry wins the award for the second time in her career after previously winning it for April 2023/24. The forward started the month at Rangers before rejoining Motherwell on loan from the 13th September.
The forward scored eight goals in the four appearances she made, including five goal contributions for Rangers against Dundee United, four goals for Motherwell against Queen’s Park, and scoring a last-minute equaliser against Hamilton Accies in the Sky Sports Cup.
Motherwell will hope she continues her fine form to help them break into the top-six of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League but will be without her in their Sky Sports Quarter-Final against Rangers.
Seventeen-year-old Cara Borthwick wins the SWPL 2 award for the first time in her career. The Boroughmuir Thistle forward, a graduate of their pathway, scored four goals in five games for the Meadowbank Stadium outfit.
It was a strong month for the team as a whole as Andy Enwood’s side went unbeaten, winning four of their matches and scoring 19 goals in the process. They are also the only SWPL 2 side left in the Sky Sports Cup and will face Aberdeen at home in the Quarter-Final.
The nominees for the September 2024 SWPL award were Saoirse Noonan (Celtic), Erin Rennie (Spartans), and Katie Wilkinson (Rangers) and for the SWPL 2 award were Erin Halliday (Hamilton Accies) and Eilidh Martin (Kilmarnock).
