Aston Villa have signed 27-year-old attacking midfielder Ramona Petzelberger from Frauen Bundesliga side SGS Essen.
For former German youth international Petzelberger it will be the first move outside her country, having previously played for SG Wattenscheid 09, SC 07 Bad Neuenahr and Bayer Leverkusen.
Head coach Gemma Davies told avfc.co.uk: “I am delighted that we have signed Ramona, with a huge amount of experience in the German Bundesliga.
“She is a very technical player, who likes to play between the lines and make key passes that unlocks defences.
“She is exceptionally fit and can operate box-to-box with ease.
“I am excited by what Ramona will bring to our team.”
