Arsenal striker Michelle Agyemang in talks over loan move back to Brighton

Michelle Agyemang in talks over loan move to Brighton from Arsenal

Michelle Agyemang could reportedly return to Brighton for the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season, with the Seagulls in discussions with Arsenal over another loan move.

The 19-year-old spent last season at Brighton, scoring five goals in 22 appearances.

Her stock has increased rapidly over the summer thanks to her stunning performances for England at Euro 2025.

Agyemang scored an 81st-minute equaliser during the quarter-final victory over Sweden.

The Lionesses also looked to be heading out in the semi-final against Italy, before Agyemang scored another equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The teenager would go on to be named as the Young Player of the Tournament.

Sarina Wiegman turned to Agyemang and Chloe Kelly as her ‘super-subs’ during the tournament, with the latter scoring the winning penalty in the final against Spain.

Kelly is the favourite with betting sites to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Why Arsenal could loan Michelle Agyemang back out to Brighton?

The Daily Mirror have reported that Michelle Agyemang could be loaned back out to Brighton, despite her excellent performances with England at Euro 2025.

It’s said that while Arsenal are delighted with her progress, head coach Renee Slegers is keen to ensure she plays regular football next season.

Agyemang faces a similar issue at Arsenal as she does with the Lionesses.

That is the quality of the side, with Alessia Russo also the regular starter for Arsenal in the striker position.

If Agyemang stayed at Arsenal this season, there would be a good chance she would be used as a ‘super-sub’ just like under Sarina Wiegman with England.

However, Arsenal coach Slegers believes that regular playing time would be beneficial for Agyemang’s development.

Brighton finished fifth in the Women’s Super League last season and Agyemang would be a massive signing for them as they look to close the gap on the top-four.

The Seagulls are also interested in signing Arsenal teammate Rosa Kafaji on loan for 2025-26.

Sweden international Kafaji visited Brighton’s facilities at the end of July.

When does the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season start?

There is now less than a month before the start of the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season.

Arsenal kickstart their campaign against newly promoted London City Lionesses on September 6th.

The Gunners have strengthened heavily this summer, with the signings of Chloe Kelly, Taylor Hinds and Olivia Smith – who became the first £1 million player in women’s football.

Should Agyemang return to Brighton, she will likely line up for the Seagulls in their opening game against Aston Villa on September 7th.
