Arsenal edged holders Manchester City 1-0 after extra-time to reach the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup Final.

Laura Wienroither got through for the Gunners early on but Sandy MacIver turned her effort behind, while City’s Lauren Hemp came closest to a first-half goal when clipping the crossbar.

Arsenal’s Lina Hurtig hit the bar halfway through the second half, after Caitlin Foord had headed on a Katie McCabe cross.

Stina Blackstenius was denied by MacIver near the end of normal time but did get the only goal three minutes into extra-time, forcing home Hurtig’s cross.

Sabrina D’Angelo protected the advantage when saving a Filippa Angeldahl strike and Arsenal now await the winners of Thursday’s semi-final between West Ham and Chelsea at Dagenham & Redbridge FC, which is live on BBC Red Button/iPlayer/BBC Sport Website and The FA Player.

The final is at Selhurst Park on Sunday 5 March.
