Arnold Clark Cup: Lionesses pegged back by Canada

England drew 1-1 with Olympic champions Canada in their first match of the Arnold Clark Cup at Middlesbrough FC.

Leah Williamson fired just wide but Millie Bright volleyed England in front following a corner midway through the first half.

The Lionesses came closest to a second before the break when Kadeisha Buchanan blocked an Alessia Russo effort and the follow up by Ella Toone.

Ten minutes into the second half Canada were back on level terms, Janine Beckie with a great strike into Mary Earps’ top corner.

Moments later, Keira Walsh sent Hemp away to bring a good save from Kailen Sheridan.

Another Buchanan block denied Nikita Parris after a strong run from Lucy Bronze, Georgia Stanway had a stoppage-time strike gathered by Sheridan.
