Anstey Nomads beat Loughborough Lightning Development 3-2 in the Leicestershire FA Women’s County Cup Final at Holmes Park on Thursday 26 May.

Anstey struck twice in a three-minute spell midway through the first half, Ella Needham opening the scoring after keeper Sam Abbott parried the initial effort, Gemma Ball doubling the advantage.

Loughborough responded on 33 minutes with a fine shot from Meadow Barton reducing the arrears at the break to 2-1.

Five minutes after the restart, the Nomads restored their two-goal advantage as Carmelina Colangelo rounded the keeper to slot home.

Lightning hit back again with a Millie Quaintance penalty 17 minutes from time but an equaliser was not forthcoming against the East Midlands Division 1 South side.
