Aston Villa sign Spanish international defender Paula Tomás from Levante on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year.

The 22-year-old left-back played over 75 times for the Spanish top-flight side, while at international level has been capped for the U-17s, U-23s and now twice at senior level.

Manager Robert de Pauw told avfc.co.uk: “Paula is a young and versatile player that can play as a full-back on both sides.

“She is able to defend well and also go up the flanks in attack. I think she will bring intelligence and determination to the team. I’m happy the club were able to bring her here.”

Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard added: “She is a player we have enjoyed tracking and watching. Our first-ever Spanish signing, she is certainly an exciting player that I am sure fans will enjoy seeing play.”
