Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City won through to the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup semi-finals.

Aston Villa – without Rachel Daly for the first of her three-game suspension – came from behind to force extra-time at Brighton, before progressing on penalties. Veatriki Sarri fired the hosts in front from distance after half an hour. Villa’s Ebony Salmon had a goal ruled out but Kirsty Hanson headed in a Kenza Dali cross midway through the second half. Daphne van Domselaar then came to the fore, saving three spot-kicks to send Villa into the semis.
Sjoeke Nuesken of Chelsea bagged a first-half brace, her first a free header from a Fran Kirby cross, the second when glancing home an Eve Perisset corner kick. Aggie Beevor-Jones squeezed in the third right after the interval and Kirby added a late brace with Mia Fishel and Jelena Čanković providing the assists.
Manchester City went through with a first-half goal against Spurs proving decisive. It was a special one too, as Yui Hasegawa’s 20-yard drive crashed in off the crossbar.
