Manchester United goalkeeper Safia Middleton-Patel has signed for Watford on a dual-registration agreement for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old Wales international joins the Barclays Women’s Championship side, having had earlier loan spells at Blackburn Rovers, Coventry United and Leicester City.

She first made United’s senior matchday squad in a WSL match against Arsenal in February 2022 and signed her first professional contract with the club a year ago.

After being capped for her country at U-17 and U-19 levels, she played for Wales in February 2023, keeping a clean sheet against the Phillipines in the Pinatar Cup.
