Portugal will play Iceland in a FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Final next Tuesday after defeating Belgium 2-1 with a late goal following a red card.

Diana Silva’s opener had been cancelled out by the break, with a a well-taken VAR-awarded penalty from Tessa Wullaert.

Belgium had a second only to see VAR chalk it off, they then had Amber Tysiak sent off, with the resulting free kick tipped onto the bar and with 15 seconds left Carole Costa scored a dramatic winner.

Steve Ayre (holidaying fan/She Kicks reader who went to take in the game) commented: ‘I can’t hear a thing after 90 mins drumming from the Portuguese.

‘The final whistle goes possibly even before the original 5 minutes are up but certainly not after 5 minutes play (5 mins shown on the board but a couple of minutes due to some technical issues with substitutes before the restart).  Portugal are delirious, Belgium furious. FIFA may need a look. I need a lie down but what a game.’
