Nigeria and South Africa have qualified for next year’s World Cup, after reaching the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
They join fellow Africans Morocco and Zambia in booking their berths for the tournament in Australia & New Zealand, following narrow quarter-final victories.
Nigeria got the only goal of the game against Cameroon, Rasheedat Ajibade making the breakthrough before the hour mark.
South Africa progressed with a similar result against Tunisia, as Jermaine Seoposenwe’s 14th-minute effort proved decisive.
It isn’t yet over for the beaten quarter-finalists, as on 17 July Senegal play Tunisia and Botswana face Cameroon, with the winners advancing to the inter-confederation play-offs.
Meanwhile in the WAFCON2022 semi-finals on 18 July, Zambia go up against South Africa and hosts Morocco meet Nigeria.
