Chelsea made it a hat-trick of Barclays FA Women’s Super League titles but only after Manchester United had twice given them scares.

Chelsea’s second-half comeback secures title
Manchester United took a 13th-minute lead when Martha Thomas headed in an Ella Toone free kick but Chelsea were level five minutes later, Erin Cuthbert with a powerful finish after latching onto a header from a throw in.
United regained the lady on 25 minutes, Leah Galton’s cross hit home by Toone’s deflected volley.
The second half was only 47 seconds old when Sam Kerr slammed home a volley to equalise, then five minutes later Pernille Harder squared the ball for Guro Reiten to give Chelsea the lead.
The title was looking Chelsea’s when Kerr volleyed in superbly on the turn from 25 yards
Second place for Gunners
Arsenal did what they could in their title bid – winning at West Ham – but had to settle for the runners-up spot.
Stina Blackstenius came off the bench to make an immediate impact for Arsenal, breaking the deadlock on the hour mark at West Ham.
Steph Catley got the Gunners second six minutes afterwards but the leadership was slipping from their grasp elsewhere.
Man City take third spot
Manchester City made sure of qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Chmapions League again, with a last-day victory.
Lauren Hemp put Manchester City in front at Reading and Khadija Shaw doubled the lead close to half time, going someway toward sealing third place.
Ellen White added a late third when heading in a cross from Vicky Losada, in added time Hayley Raso was foulrd in the box by Lily Woodham and Alex Greenwood scored from the resulting penalty.
Birmingham City win at Villa Park
Relegated Birmingham City had the advantage by the interval at Villa Park, where Veatriki Sarri netted ten minutes in with a shot from a difficult angle.
Neville nets Spurs winner
Ashleigh Neville headed in a Jessica Naz cross to put Spurs one up on 49 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Leicester City. It proved to be the only goal and claimed fifth place in the table for Spurs.
Brighton draw with Everton
Everton were ahead by at the break at Brighton through Nathalie Björn’s stoppage-time effort but Aileen Whelan marked her final game for Albion with the leveller early in the second period.
With the scores then staying level, Brighton ended seventh and Everton were left in tenth.
