The Scottish Women’s Cup got underway on Sunday and featured a win on penalties for Rutherglen, while Orkney bowed out to Sutherland.

Loren Donnachie broke the deadlock for Rutherglen in extra-time, only for Nairn St Ninians to forced a shoot-out with an equaliser on 120 minutes. Rutherglen keeper Lauren Hinshelwood then saved the first penalty and converted her side’s second to help see them into the 1st Round.

Glasgow Women go top of SWPL 2
Elsewhere on Sunday, Glasgow Women replaced Dundee United at the top of SBS SWPL 2 after a 3-2 victory at Boroughmuir Thistle.
Eve Donald quickly levelled after the hosts opened the scoring through Courtney McAvoy, Sophie McGoldrick then getting Glasgow in front after 65 minutes.
Lucy Ronald gave them a two-goal cushion, with Fiona Gibson replying eight minutes from time to set up a tense finish.
