Hamilton Academical just missed out on going up last season but ended the opening day as SWPL 2 leaders with a 5-0 defeat of Stirling University.

There was quite some goal-fest as Dundee United defeated newcomers Boroughmuir Thistle 8-4 and some achievement too for Danni McGinley, whose five-goal haul came in her Dundee debut.

St Johnstone took the points 4-2 at Queens Park, Ellie May Cowie at the double as the visitors built a 4-0 lead, the Spiders then pulling two goals back.

Partick Thistle beat Glasgow Women 2-0 with a first-half double, Clare Docherty on target after only 3 minutes and Suzanne Mulvey with the second.

There was a late exchange of goals as Aberdeen’s Eilidh Shore cancelled out Kilmarnock’s lead obtained just 4 minutes earlier by Chloe Ponton.
