Norway’s veteran goalkeeper, Ingrid Hjelmseth, has called time on her career following the 2019 World Cup, having started with the national set up 16 years earlier.
The 39-year-old accumulated over 130 caps, was twice runner-up at the Euros, making the squad of the tournament in 2013.
Domestically, she won the Toppserien title three times with Trondheims-Ørn SK and twice at Stabæk FK, while also enjoying six Norwegian Women’s Cup successes, three with either side.
She played 121 times for Trondheims before a spell with Asker, after whose demise she signed for a newly-formed Stabæk in 2009 and clocked up 158 matches for them.
Hjelmseth earlier considered retirement as an option after the 2015 World Cup finals and at the time expressed an interest in switching to an outfield role for a lower league team.
