Aston Villa have strengthened their squad ahead of the upcoming FA Women’s Championship campaign by making three new signings.
Marisa Ewers joins from city rivals Birmingham City, while Melissa Johnson and Ella Franklin-Fraiture complete moves from Leicester City WFC.
Head Coach Gemma Davies said: “These three players were our top targets heading into the off-season and I’m thrilled that they’re Aston Villa players.
“Marisa brings a wealth of top-level experience to the squad while Melissa has a proven track record of scoring goals in this league.
“Ella has also proven to be a top player, as she showed for Leicester last season. We’re aiming to challenge at the top of the league this season and the new additions will help us to do that.”
German youth international Ewers, who can play in defence and midfield, brings WSL pedigree after making 28 appearances for Blues since moving to England from Bayer Leverkusen in 2016.
Speedy striker Johnson netted eight times to finish as the Foxes’ top scorer in her only season at the club, while defender Franklin-Fraiture was the Foxes’ Outstanding Player and Players’ Player of the Season.
