#WU17EURO: Katie Robinson hits winner for Young Lionesses

England got off the mark at the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship with a 2-1 win over Austria in their second group game.

Lucy Johnson scored direct from a corner on 15 minutes and although Annabel Schesching equalised from the spot, Katie Robinson restored the advantage after 35 minutes.

England finish their group games on Saturday against the Nethlerlands, who came from behind to beat Germany 3-2 and make it back-to-back wins in Group B.

Marleen Rohde’s opener was immediately cancelled out by Lotje De Keijzer, with Samantha van Diemen putting the Dutch in front and then Nikita Tromp netting a penalty after Jule Brand was dismissed. Carlotta Wamdser pulled one back late on but the Germans were beaten.

Portugal progressed from Group A after a Marta Ferreira stoppage-time goal defeated Denmark 1-0.

Holders, Spain elimintated hosts Bulgaria when beating them 3-0, Carlotta Sanchez, Silvia Loris and Sabrina Paralluelo with the goals.
