Cambridge City, Liverpool Feds Reserves, Oxford City and Wycombe Wanderers went top of their respective Regional League divisions after results on Sunday 20 January.
EASTERN – Lilywhites lead
PREMIER – Cambridge City went top on goal-difference when netting a dozen against AFC Sudbury, with doubles for Charlotte Gillies, Shannon Shaw, Carla Penny and substitute Erin Davies. Royston Town are up to third after Samantha Edgar got the only goal at Colney Heath.
ONE – Hertford Town banked a first point at the tenth attempt and in doing so denied St Ives Town the leadership. Chloe Ring scored for the basement side, Ruth Fox coming off the bench to score for the promotion-chasers. Newmarket Town are fourth following a 4-1 result over Bishops Stortford in which subs Laura Bailey and Annabel Cuthbert both scored.
EAST MIDLANDS – Lutterworth play leapfrog
1 SOUTH – The only match in the league saw Lutterworth Athletic leapfrogged Corby Town into fifth position with a 7-1 success against them, which included a hat-trick by Kayleigh Hillier.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Top two tie
PREMIER – The top of the table clash finished goalless, meaning AFC Phoenix still lead Whyteleafe on goal-difference. Third-placed Kent Football United failed to capitalise on the draw by going down 2-0 at Eastbourne Town, for whom Felicity Webster and sub Molly Hill netted. QPR Girls Development did gain ground though as Chloe Sampson bagged a brace in a 5-0 defeat of Aylesford. London Kent Football United climb above Fulham to sixth thanks to Adele Keech’s effort away to the Cottagers.
GREATER LONDON PREMIER – Hackney hit second spot with a narrow 2-1 result at a winless Regents Park Rangers. All the goals came in the second half as Spurs Development beat Victoire 4-1, Watford Development’s 6-3 win at Colne Valley came with a Rebecca Lovelace treble and elevated them above their hosts to sixth.
SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Crawley Wasps Reserves are now 12 points clear after hitting Worthing 6-2, Lauren Callaghan contributing twice. Saltdean United edged Phoenix Sports with a Charlotte Markham goal, Maya Beesley got both goals as Lewes Foundation won 2-0 at Newhaven and jumped two places to fifth, Bexhill United won the bottom of the table battle with Meridian 2-0.
NORTH EAST – West End go second in North
PREMIER – Wallsend BC had a walkover against lowly Castleford White Rose.
1 NORTH – Sunderland West End went second when sinking Alnwick Town 7-0, Melissa Simpson with three of their goals. Prudhoe Town picked up a first point after twelve attempts, Samantha Garcia on target in a 1-1 tie with Chester le Street Town St.Cuthberts.
1 SOUTH – Sheffield Wednesday took the points 2-1 at Wakefield where Jessica Morrison was at the double for the Owls.
NORTH WEST – County set to catch Rovers
PREMIER – Stockport County moved within striking distance of leaders Tranmere Rovers, whom they beat 4-2 away. Fleetwood Town Wrens rose two places to fourth by edging basement side Sir Tom Finney in a seven-goal trhiller. Penrith’s match with Accrington was abandoned.
1 NORTH – Morecambe Reserves moved into the top half of the table having won 3-0 away at Preston North End.
1 SOUTH – Liverpool Feds Reserves netted nine at City of Liverpool to push themselves into pole position, Curzon Ashton are fourth following a 12-1 drubbing of Didsbury.
SOUTHERN – City hit the summit
PREMIER – Oxford City now lead with their eighth straight win coming 8-1 at Newbury. AFC Bournemouth had five different scorers in their 5-1 win over Winchester City Flyers which put them level on points with second-placed Southampton FC Women. Ascot United are up to fifth with five goals at Barton Rovers, subs Lucy Holzman-Clarke and Katie Vince among the scorers.
ONE – Wycombe Wanderers went top when putting five past Eastleigh, two of those from Christina O’Connor. Abingdon United ran out 9-1 winners at Basingstoke Town as Bethany Hawtin hit a hat-trick and three subs all registered. Elsewhere, Shanklin shared four goals with Wargrave.
SOUTH WEST – Lucky thirteen for Exeter duo
PREMIER – Exeter City romped home 13-0 at Downend Flyers, Sophie Gillies leading the way with a treble. Callington Town and Bishops Lydeard finished four apiece and Marine Academy Plymouth overcame an early goal by hosts Torquay United to win 5-1 an move up to third.
1 EASTERN – Fourth versus fifth finished 1-1 as AEK Boco were held by Swindon Spitfires, Almondsbury’s 3-0 win over Oldland Abbotonians put them seventh and Swindon Town Development are eighth having edged the counterparts from Cheltenham Town 2-1 with a couple by Victoria Taylor.
1 WESTERN – Bideford’s 3-0 success over leaders Plymouth Argyle Reserves came with a Bethany Ellis hat-trick and put them within four points of the Pilgrims with two games still in hand. Alphington can also now catch third-placed Plympton after pipping them to the points 3-2. Pen Mill threatened a surprise win at Bude Town but the hosts battled back for a 4-2 result aided by two from substitute Charlotte Lang. Exeter & Tedburn Rangers got off the mark in a 4-3 thriller with Feniton which saw them win at the thirteenth time of asking.
WEST MIDLANDS – Court close in on Coldfield
PREMIER – Coundon Court are a point behind leaders Sutton Coldfield Town after they overcame Lye Town 9-0. Town were otherwise occupied in the Divisional Cup with a 2-1 scoreline over Coventry Sphinx.
1 SOUTH – The Solihull derby saw United hit double-figures against Sporting to make it eleven wins in a row and cut Sedgeley & Gornal’s lead to a single point from two games fewer. Kingfisher climbed to fifth as 2-1 winners at Coventry City, while Stourbridge put four past Rugby Town.
