England have just one point from their first two games at the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship in Lithuania, after they followed up the draw with Poland by going down 2-1 to Spain.
Although Paula Arana gave Spain an early lead, Ebony Salmon levelled on 26 minutes for the Young Lionesses.
Eva Navarro then secured all three points for the Spanish with the winner 10 minutes from time.
Italy’s goalless draw with Poland means that John Griffiths’ side must defeat the Italians in their last group game on Tuesday morning, whilst hoping Spain prevent a Polish victory.

Germany fightback to draw with ten-player Dutch
In Saturday’s Group A games, holders Germany rescued a point from a 2-2 tie with the Netherlands, meaning both will go through by avoiding defeat in their next match. Gwyneth Hendriks put the Netherlands in front and even though they then had goalkeeper Claire Dinkla dismissed, Chasity Grant made it 2-0. Ivana Martinez pulled one back before Donhauser equalised 4 minutes into added time.
Annika Huhta hit a hat-trick as Finland sent Lithuania to a 4-0 defeat, with Vilma Koivisto scoring from the spot.
