Sweetman-Kirk Sweeps FA WSL1 Player of the Month Award (November)

Everton’s Courtney Sweetman-Kirk has been selected as the FA WSL 1 Player of the Month for November.

Following promotion to the FA WSL 1, Sweetman-Kirk has been an important player for Everton and her performances for The Toffees continued in November. The striker, who returned from a serious broken leg injury during her spell with Doncaster Belles, has been showing fine form as she scored her first goal of the season against Birmingham City in the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup before following up with another in a vital win over Yeovil Town in FA WSL 1.

Sweetman-Kirk fought off tough competition from a shortlist including Arsenal’s Jordan Nobbs and October’s FA WSL 1 Player of the Month winner, Fara Williams. Nobbs continued her fine form this season scoring two goals against Millwall and an unstoppable curling effort in her side’s win over Sunderland. Williams was also in goal-scoring form, finding the net three times for Reading, with a brace against former side Arsenal including an audacious long-range lob from kick-off.

The FA WSL Player of the Month award celebrates the best players in FA WSL 1, FA WSL 2 and FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup. Each month, three players will be shortlisted based on their performances before a media panel selects a winner for each league.

Presented with the FA WSL 1 Player of the Month award, Everton’s Courtney Sweetman-Kirk said, ‘The best moment of November for me was scoring the winner against Birmingham. It was a nice goal and my first for the club which is always special, and it’s always nice to score the winner. Winning the Player of the Month award has topped off a great month for me.’
