Brian Sorensen has provided an injury update on Katja Snoeijs after the Everton striker was taken off on a stretcher during the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
What happened to Katja Snoeijs?
Katja Snoeijs went down with an injury just before half-time during Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City.
The 29-year-old Dutch international was running towards the ball when she suddenly pulled up and dropped to the ground.
She held on to the back of her ankle and looked in considerable pain. Medical staff tended to her on the pitch and after a four-minute delay, she was taken off on a stretcher and replaced by Kelly Gago, who has submitted a transfer request.
How long will Katja Snoeijs be out for?
Brian Sorensen has confirmed that Snoeijs will be out of action for between four and six weeks.
The Everton head coach confirmed the news in a press conference ahead of their FA Cup clash with West Bromwich Albion on Thursday night.
Sorensen said: “Katja rolled her ankle against City and is unfortunately out for four to six weeks. She is in a boot and that is what we can see from the scan.”
Snoeijs is the only injury issue going into the FA Cup tie in the West Midlands.
Sorensen added: “Everyone else is okay, she is the only one. Hikaru [Kitagawa] was on limited minutes on the weekend, and is still going to be on limited minutes on Thursday. But, everyone else is okay.”

Which games will Snoeijs miss?
The news means that Snoeijs will likely miss the next five games for the Toffees.
After their FA Cup clash with West Brom, Everton are due to face Brighton, Aston Villa, London City Lionesses and West Ham in the WSL.
Snoeijs could return for Everton’s clash with Tottenham on March 15th.
It is a blow for Everton, who are 10th in the Women’s Super League after their most recent defeat.
Other than wins over Liverpool and Chelsea, it has been a disappointing season for Sorensen’s side.
The Toffees are only four points above Liverpool, who currently sit bottom after their winless start to the season.
Following Snoeijs’ injury, Everton will be eager to secure Gago’s future, amid uncertainty over her future at Goodison Park.
