Shaw: It’s a really good feeling
And after the game, a delighted Bunny Shaw spoke to Sky Sports about her achievement – adding that she knew going into the game that she would pass the century milestone with one more goal.
“It’s a really good feeling,” she said. “I’ve always said from the first day I got here, this was a special club. The players I have around me, it’s a testament to them and a credit to them, I think they’ve made me look good, I’ve always said it.”
Of her four goals against Villa – albeit with an admission that the fourth was a slightly lucky one – she said: “When you score early, you just have the momentum and the confidence it’s just going to keep going.
“For me, it’s just a good feeling and I get to celebrate with the girls after.”
Bunny Shaw just wants to score goals – Vivianne Miedema
Team-mate – and the WSL’s all-time leading goalscorer – Vivianne Miedema presented Shaw with her player of the match award, and reflected on their partnership.
“Last year we didn’t get to play together too much – this year we’ve finally had a good stride of games we can play together.
“I love linking up and I love making the play, and Bunny just wants to be in the box to score goals, and I think we’ve got a great combination of that right now.
“I think we’re really lucky to have all of us on the same team.”
