National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion sides Denver Summit and Boston Legacy have announced that they will play their opening home matches inside NFL stadiums.

The two sides will make their debut in the NWSL in the 2026 season.

Boston will play the entirety of their home games inside the NFL stadium during the 2026 season. Denver are in the process of building a temporary stadium for next year, before they move into a permanent home from 2028.

Which NFL stadium will Boston Legacy play at during the 2026 NWSL season?

Boston Legacy will play their first home game on the opening weekend of the 2026 NWSL season at the home of NFL franchise the New England Patriots, on March 14th, 2026.

The opponent and broadcast network will be announced when the NWSL schedule is released in early 2026.

Gillette Stadium, which seats 65,878 fans in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is also home to MLS side New England Revolution.

Boston Legacy will play at Gillette Stadium in 2026, before moving to White Stadium in Boston’s Franklin Park the following year.

The White Stadium is currently under renovation, with plans for it to hold 11,000 seats.

Where will the Denver Summit play during the 2026 NWSL season?

Denver Summit has also announced that their first home game, on March 28th, 2026, will be played at the home of the Denver Broncos.

The Empower Field at Mile High, holds 76,000 seats. The club has already announced that it had sold over 15,000 season-ticket deposits.

Unlike Boston Legacy, Denver Summit won’t play the full season inside the NFL stadium.

The team will move into a temporary ground which is opposite to the team’s permanent training ground in the Denver suburbs.

Denver hopes to have the venue ready for their second home match, but are preparing to play additional home matches elsewhere including the Empower Field or Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, home to MLS side Colorado Rapids.

The Summit plan to move into a permanent stadium in 2028 which will become only the second in league history to be specifically built for an NWSL team.

Could Denver or Boston break the all-time NWSL attendance record?

Playing inside large NFL stadiums, presents Denver Summit and Boston Legacy the chance to break the NWSL attendance record.

The record is currently held by Bay FC, as their 3-2 defeat to Washington Spirit was attended by 40,091 fans in August 2025.

Both NFL stadiums where Denver and Boston will play can hold enough fans to beat this record, though it would be a big ask for Denver or Boston to break the record in their first home match.

How are the two NWSL expansion sides shaping up ahead of their debut season?

Both sides have already started their recruitment ahead of their debut NWSL season in 2026.

Denver Summit announced the appointment of former Manchester City boss Nick Cushing as their new head coach.

Ally Watt, Nahikari Garcia, and Lourdes Bosch are among the players to join the Summit for their debut season.

Boston Legacy’s recruitment has seen the likes of Barbara Olivieri, Laurel Ansbrow, Aleigh Gambone join their ranks.

The club have appointed Filipa Patao as head coach from former side Benfica.
