Fans have voted Lucy Bronze England’s player of the year for 2025.

Game-changer Chloe Kelly came second, with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton in third.

Bronze started 15 times for England throughout the 2024-25 season, with an additional appearance as substitute, and scored five times. That included a goal against Sweden in the UEFA Women’s Euro quarter-final.

She was also one of the penalty-takers that night – securing the Lionesses a place in the last four.

She was on the pitch for 106 minutes against Spain, helping England to a second successive Euros win – and later revealed that she had played the tournament with a fractured tibia, which has since kept her out of action.

However, she is in the England squad that is preparing to face Brazil and Australia over the next week.

And Bronze was presented with the award by Georgia Stanway in front of the Lionesses players and staff at St George’s Park during their camp.

“I wasn’t expecting it but it’s always nice to get recognition, especially from England fans,” Bronze said in a statement. “I adore playing for England and I have put my heart and soul into every game over the last 12 years. In that respect, it’s a huge honour and especially after such a crazy year with the Euros. I’m very proud.”

Lucy Bronze: It’s been out of this world

She reflected on two pivotal moments in her England career – the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada, when she rose to wider public attention in the Lionesses’ progress to a bronze medal, and the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, where England came fourth.

“For me, 2015 was a real starting point as an England player; 2019, I feel like that’s when I was hitting my peak as an individual, but this year has been something that I couldn’t have imagined. The way we won the Euros, the noise around it and women’s football in general this year has been out of this world.”

England face Brazil at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday, 25th October, and then take on Australia on Tuesday, 28th October.

Before the end of the year, they will also play China at Wembley Stadium, and Ghana in Southampton.
