Man City vs Everton preview
The group stage of the Women’s League Cup kicks off this week and arguably the headline clash involves Manchester City and Everton on Wednesday night.
City were beaten finalists in this competition last season after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea. On that day, Aoba Fujino cancelled out Mayra Ramirez’s opener, before Yui Hasegawa put the ball in the back of her own net to give Sonia Bompastor’s side their first trophy of three last season.
Andree Jeglertz will see the League Cup as an ideal opportunity to pick up his trophy since becoming Manchester City manager.
In the group stage, they have been drawn alongside Everton and WSL 2 sides Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Changes aplenty could be expected of both Manchester City and Everton ahead of their respective league clashes this weekend.
City go into this tie off the back of a 5-1 victory over Tottenham at the weekend. The Toffees have lost two games on the trot, most recently against newly promoted London City Lionesses.
Everton can take some comfort going into the game, after taking four points off Manchester City in the WSL last season.
Team news
There are concerns over Manchester City star Lauren Hemp who suffered an ankle injury during their 5-1 victory over Tottenham on Friday.
Hemp was seen in a protective boot at full-time and Andree Jeglertz is not sure yet how long the England international will be sidelined for.
Grace Clinton could make her first start after an impressive cameo off the bench against Tottenham. The England international joined the club in a cross-city switch which saw Jess Park head to Manchester United.
Jeglertz during his pre-match press conference, said the game will be a chance to see some other players make the starting XI. That means the likes of Khadija Shaw, Alex Greenwood and Yui Hasegawa could all be rested.
Everton could also see a number of changes to rest players after two consecutive defeats. The likes of Ornella Vignola, Ruby Mace and Clare Wheeler could all drop to the bench.

Man City vs Everton Women’s League Cup prediction
A lot of changes could be made to both sides despite only one team going through each group in the Women’s League Cup to the quarter-finals.
Manchester City were in ruthless form against Tottenham and have superior squad depth compared to the Toffees.
Therefore, SheKicks predicts a 3-1 victory for Andree Jeglertz’s side.
