2024 Barclays WSL Hall of Fame inductees unveiled

Alex Scott, Gilly Flaherty, Steph Houghton and referee Rebecca Welch are this year’s inductees to the Barclays WSL Hall of Fame.

Alex Scott MBE won 21 trophies with Arsenal, was capped 140 times by England and now has a very successful broadcasting career in which she achieved several firsts for women.

Steph Houghton won seven trophies in three years with the Gunners, moving on to Manchester City to claim as many successes again, before becoming a pundit for the BBC and Sky Sports.

Gilly Flaherty amassed 17 trophies during a decade at Arsenal, added five more following a move to Chelsea and is now also involved in media duties across the women’s game.

Rebecca Welch becomes the first match official to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, having officiated in the WSL from its inception, she also officiated on the European, World and Olympic stages, as well as being the first female to oversee Premier League, EFL and men’s FA Cup fixtures. She now works with PGMOL as the manager of the Select Group Women’s Professional Game.

The quartet’s official induction will take place at a special Barclays WSL Hall of Fame celebration event in January 2025.
